Dolly
Dolly, a 4 year old Tosa Inu, came to us in a time of turmoil and confusion for all who reside in Southern California. She was one of the innocent displaced victims of the 2003 So. California wildfires. A good samaritan found Dolly running alongside the burning roads in Kearny Mesa, and luckily she took her off of the burning, smoky, ashy streets and placed her in her vehicle as she was fleeing the area. Dolly was then placed in a local shelter in hopes that her owner would come for her. The good samaritan then contacted one of our volunteers to let us know that Dolly was in the shelter. Her owner never claimed her.

Dolly was rescued and totally adored by all who met her. We noticed that in the last two weeks that Dolly really had not wanted to eat or interact the same way as she did when we first met her. Jacob went to let Dolly out as he does every day but today she could not get up so she was rushed to the animal hospital. Upon examination it was determined that she had a genetic spinal cord abnormality, or nerve damage. She could not walk and was in a lot of pain. One of the hardest decisions, but also a humane decision for Dolly, was to end her suffering. While Dolly was cradled in the loving arms of a volunteer, she was laid to rest. Dolly, you will always have a special place in our hearts and I know you will be waiting at the edge of the Bridge for those of us who loved and cared for you.
