Angelina
Another statistic from the South Los Angeles Animal Shelter, Sweet Angelina came to us as a bag of bones. Severe neglect left her so emaciated that she could barely keep herself standing. She was about half the weight she should have been, but we were determined not to let her die. We had her checked out by our vet and started fattening her up. Shortly, thereafter, she was adopted by a very caring man that just wanted to spoil her rotten. This girl was getting the royal treatment. Soon, she gained enough weight to be spayed. That's when our worse fear showed up. The vet found some tumors and sure enough, they were cancerous. The cancer was so badly entwined in her organs, that we knew it was just a matter of time. Angelina finally found a loving home and her life was taken away. It's just not fair. But there's comfort in knowing that she spent her last days in such a loving home where she was given extra special treatment.

Until We Meet Again
We've been through a lot in the past. It's hard to believe you are gone, I've cried a river of tears. Your bowl now sits empty on the kitchen floor. Your blankets remain, but you will need them no more. I can still see your face. Your spirit lives on. Coming home is not the same. It's lonely now you are gone. Now you are gone, and in a much better place. One of God's special creatures, so full of grace. Running through the fields, completely free from pain. With nothing to lose, only freedom to gain. Free from the limitations that bound you on earth. Back to your old self, so full of life, so full of mirth. So go chase a butterfly. Go romp in the rain. Go play and do all your favorite things once again. Here's a tribute to you, my fury best friend. You've been my companion through thick and through thin. You've been by side, you're both loyal and true. Always happy to see me, always willing to do. And when day turned to night, by my side you would be. Greeting me in morning, many sunrises we did see. I don't know how to thank you. Don't know where to begin. All I know is that I miss you.
