  Operation K9 Rescue Important News

These dogs need your help!
Villalobos Rescue Center, our Rescue "Partner", was contacted by the Los Angeles District Attorney about two dogs who have been held at the South L.A. shelter as "evidence" since April, 2003 due to having been abused and neglected by their owner. The case against their owner has finally been resolved (he was convicted of felony animal cruelty and now faces 4 years 8 months in prison)

In April of last year 911 received a call from the defendant's 12-year-old neighbor. This courageous boy called to report that the defendant had tied his dog to the tree and was shooting it with a pellet gun. When police arrived they found the one dog (the white one) who'd been shot covered in blood. That dog was taken to a vet and x-rays revealed that there were close to 40 more old pellets embedded in the dog's body from previous shootings. The defendant's daughter told police that her dad would shoot the dog because he jumped on the car and scratched the paint.

The second dog was also taken by the police. He had been neglected and possibly used as target practice as well.

The detective who handled the case has personally been looking out for these dogs and making sure they will end up in the right hands. The detective says that despite the horrible life these two dogs have lived, they are both sweethearts. The white staffie mix will go to Villalobos Rescue and the American Bulldog will go to us at Operation K9 Rescue. We will make sure that dogs will get the love that deserve and we will make sure that they will never know harm or suffering for the rest of their precious lives and will only be shown kindness and love.
