Operation K9 Rescue News and Events Training: Operation K9 Rescue emphasizes the importance of canine evaluation and hands on work with our rescues prior to placement. We also recognize the importance of a good support network for owners and adopters. As such, Operation K9 Rescue wants to remind all adopters and owners of rare mastiffs and bully breeds that we conduct our Saturday morning obedience training classes. The classes are designed for our volunteers and rescue dogs but we invite the rest of you to join. The class consists of basic dog handling, dog behavior issues and short lectures on our breeds. If you are interested in joining, please contact us for details. March News Update: March has been a chaotic month for Operation K9 Rescue, Inc. We have faced some difficult challenges and had some great accomplishments! So far in the month of March, Operation K9 Rescue, Inc was represented at the San Diego ABRA rare breed show, Petsmart in Encinitas, Pet People in San Marcos, Pet Co Viejo and the Dogue De Bordeaux and Neapolitan Mastiff Specialties in Las Vegas. Not to mention our weekly training classes. Our education events have been in high demand! We have been double booked on most days. Our tireless volunteers have been participating in both rescue dog training and educational events on their free time! Thank you all for your awesome support. Our volunteers have been tirelessly working on training and handling our dogs. We have group class every Saturday (please see training information) and individual training daily. All the hard work has really paid off. We will be updating each dog's profile more routinely so please check back for the progress on a certain dog! Operation K9 Rescue, Inc has broadened our boundaries this month. We took in four dogs from the Las Vegas shelter thanks to the dedication and work of our Las Vegas volunteer, Jenn, as well as our local volunteers, Roseanna, Patrick, Beth and Brian who made the transports possible. In addition to Las Vegas, Operation K9 Rescue has been working on creating an alliance with rare mastiffs in Colorado to help find loving homes for bull breeds and rare mastiffs in their area. Please check back soon for the details of this endeavor! Unfortunately, March also brought some unexpected tragedies. We lost some of our beloved canine companions. Our hearts have been saddened by these losses. Tributes Schedule of Upcoming Events: ****** Important Change in Schedule ****** Operation K9 Rescue will not be doing any adoption events the weekend of April 24th. We will be having our training class at the kennels. But we will be attending partsmart's national adoption fair on april 30, May 1 and May 2nd. We will be at the Petsmart in Encinitas. ------------------------------------------------------------ Please join us Saturday, April 17th from 11-3pm for our monthly open house. Not sure if your ready for an American Bulldog or a rare Mastiff breed? Already have one, but interested in learning more? Volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions about the various breeds we rescue. We will also be selling doggie related items to raise money for the doggies. The address for this event is 130 South Twin Oaks Valley Road, San Marcos On Saturday, April 17th, we're also heading north to Orange County for an adoption event. We'll be at PetCo in Mission Viejo from 12pm-3pm. We'll have home baked dog treats, fancy dog collars and people accessories for sale to benefit the rescued dogs. Plus meet some of our ambassador dogs representing the breeds we rescue. PetCo is located at 25592 El Paseo, Mission Viejo. Catch us at the 21st Annual Encinitas Street Fair on Sunday, April 18th. Festivities run from 9am-5pm on Highway 101 between D and J Street in Encinitas. We will be at Petsmart in Encinitas on Saturday, April 24th from 12pm-3pm and Pet People in San Marcos from 10-3 for our monthly adoption and education event. Meet some of our available dogs and ambassador dogs that found homes. Volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions about the various breeds we rescue. We'll have home baked dog treats for sale to raise money for the dogs. Address for PetSmart event is 1035 North El Camino Real, Encinitas. Petsmart is located in the Encinitas Ranch Town Center. Pet People is located at 314 S Twin Oaks Valley Rd, San Marcos, CA. Spring into summer on Sunday, May 2nd with the Carlsbad Street Fair. We'll be there with some of our ambassador dogs We're once again heading up to Orange County for the Orange County Animal Shelter's Pet Fair 2004. Join us Saturday, May 8th from 10am-3pm. The shelter is located at 561 The City Drive South, Orange. Don't Forget every Saturday is Power Breed Obedience Class open to all volunteers, rescue dogs, adopters and other Bull Breeds and Rare Mastiffs in our local area. Contact us for class details!
